As I write this, I am standing up. In fact, I’ve been answering emails, making phone calls and tapping away at a computer for an hour without sitting. I drank my morning coffee pacing the room.
I own a comfy office chair, but all this standing around – I’ve been doing it on and off for a week – should do me a power of good. Am I losing my marbles? Not according to the latest research. Sitting is seriously bad for you.

A new study suggests properties in berries remove toxins that can interfere with function. But they’re not the only brain-smart foods.
Scan any list of so-called superfoods and you’ll find berries at the top. They’re low in calories, fat free and a good source of fibre and vitamins.
But their superfood status is credited to their outstanding polyphenol content, natural compounds linked with anti-aging, anti-cancer and heart health benefits.

Computers can make you fat – and not just from lack of exercise.
Research shows that staring at a computer screen makes us work up an appetite for sweet treats like chocolate cake and biscuits.
It is thought that the mental stress of computer work triggers changes in blood sugar and hormone levels that trick the brain into thinking it has worked off lots of calories that need replaced.
Computer games and TV watching have the same effect, the International Congress on Obesity in Stockholm heard.
Researcher Jean-Philippe Chaput suggests that office workers who want to keep trim should take regular screen breaks – and even consider typing while standing up.
Dr Chaput, of the University of Copenhagen, started to research the subject after noticing how is supervisor regularly snacked on chocolate biscuits when doing computer work.

Lindsay Lohan swapped her designer duds and barely there bikinis for a regular, prison regulation orange jumpsuit yesterday when she checked into Lynwood Correctional Institute for women.
But the troubled starlet gave us one last glimpse of the scantily clad body we’ll have to do without in a sexy photo shoot for Complex magazine.
Lohan posed for famed photographers Markus Klinko and Indrani (who claimed she enjoyed a lesbian relationship with the starlet) back in May.
Wrapped in nothing more than a towel, and gazing through messy hair, Jennifer Aniston pulls her very best seductress expression.
Following on from her ’showmance’ with The Bounty Hunter co-star Gerard Butler, it seems the actress is hoping her attractive figure will once again encourage her fans to spend their money.
But this time it isn’t a romantic comedy she’s promoting. Like pop star Kylie before her, the actress has branched out and launched her very own perfume – Lolavie.
