Shark Bit Swimmer’s Left Calf

shark2.jpgThe survivor of a shark attack in Hawaii has told of his terror as he struggled back to shore, fearing the fish would come back to finish him off.

Aaron Finley, 32, felt something hit his left leg really hard while he was swimming about 30ft off Wailea beach.

“It was like a hard bump. Not a buzz saw or anything like that,” said the sound engineer from West Hollywood.

Dog Diet Drug Slentrol Launched

The animals, who have been named William and Harry, keep predators away from speciality egg producer Clarence Court’s hens near Camborne in Cornwall.

The Huacaya alpaca are said to be fiercely defensive of their feathered brood.

Orangutans Attack Humans

orangutan2.jpgThe woman became embroiled in a scuffle with the animal after it tried to steal her backpack.When she put up a fight, the beast took her bag along with her shoes, socks and trousers.

The tourist, who would only be named as Odile, was taking pictures of the orangutan, named Delima, in a park in Malaysia’s Semenggoh Wildlife Centre on the island of Borneo.

The Pampered Dog Inherits $12m

luckydog1.jpgNew York hotelier and real estate billionaire Leona Helmsley has left $12m (£5.97m) to her pet dog, Trouble.

The pampered pooch received the largest bequest from Mrs Helmsley’s will.

The will also says that when Trouble dies, she is to be buried alongside Mrs Helmsley, who died last week, and her late husband in their mausoleum.

Monkey Under Hat

monkey.jpgA man has been questioned by police at LaGuardia airport in New York after smuggling a monkey onto a flight from Florida by hiding it under his hat.

Passengers spotted the animal when it climbed out and perched on the man’s ponytail, Spirit Airlines spokeswoman Alison Russell told reporters.

Researchers from St Andrews University have shown that the animals intentionally modify or repeat their signals to get their messages across.

The scientists said they believed all great apes could have this capability, suggesting that the skill may have evolved millions of years ago.
