A curry a day may help keep cancer away.
Bharat Aggarwal, a professor of experimental therapeutics at the University of Texas’s M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, began studying the cancer-fighting properties of curcumin – the active ingredient in turmeric – in the 1990s. Back then, he says, it was hard to get his colleagues to take him seriously; he recalls one oncologist politely shooed him out of his office when he tried to share his findings.
These days, however,his is an expanding field of research.The scientific community is discovering the medicinal powers of not just turmeric, but all kinds of spices.

Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem have welcomed their first child.
The Spanish actress, 36, gave birth to the baby boy on Tuesday – the same day her husband found out he had been nominated for a Best Actor Oscar for Biutiful.
The news was revealed by Spanish newspaper El Pais, which wrote that the baby was born in Los Angeles at the world-renowned Cedars Sinai hospital.

Doctors at a Berlin hospital have made a medical breakthrough after capturing live MRI images of the miracle of birth.
The pictures, taken after a German mother agreed to give birth inside a magnetic-resonance imaging machine, could provide valuable new insights into the birthing process and save lives in the future.
Gynaecologist Ernst Beinder at Berlin’s Charité Hospital said the birth proceeded normally and the machine filmed all the movements and processes that went on inside the womb.They were even able to use the machine to monitor the baby’s heart beat.

The introduction to this work has been penned by Aniston herself, who reveals that in a time she refers to as ‘BJ: Before Jewels’, she lived on an assortment of ‘prepackaged Zone meals, overcooked takeout and…the occasional piece of cheese’.

The body volume index (BVI) takes a ‘photocopy’ of a patient’s body in just six seconds.
The seven-foot booth has 16 sensors and 32 cameras and analyses a person’s body fat distribution section by section.

He was a serial womaniser, whose battle with drink and drugs almost cost him his career.
But Robbie Williams has now thanked his new wife for ‘making him a better person’ and helping him turn his life around.
The 36-year-old singer tied the knot with U.S. actress Ayda Field in California on Saturday.
The star has also revealed details of the ceremony at their £12million Beverly Hills home, which saw him take to the stage to sing a version of his own hit song, Angels, in front of a handful of gathered guests.
Speaking in Hello! magazine, Williams said: ‘Ayda looked the most beautiful girl in the world. The setting was so magical and to be surrounded by family and close friends and then see Ayda appear looking so radiant was almost too much for me to take. I’m the happiest man alive.
