dog4.jpgGus – a three-legged, one-eyed, hairless pedigree Chinese crested – has hobbled away with the title of world’s ugliest dog.

The canine claimed victory at an annual contest in northern California.

Gus and his owner Jeanenne Teed travelled across the country from Florida to compete in the competition.

“I think right now he’s ready for a nap,” Ms Teed said after Gus’ star turn.

She added that she would spend the £500 ($1,000) prize on treatment for Gus’ skin cancer.

Ms Teed entered her pet in the contest to raise awareness and hope for people whose pets have cancer.

Among a host of aesthetically-challenged pooches, the Chinese crested breed is often the standout in the competition.

Last year’s winner, Elwood, was a Chinese crested and Chihuahua mix.
