cat3.jpgCuriosity nearly killed Freddy the cat when he climbed up a power pylon – and spent the next 18 hours clinging onto wires for dear life.

The terrified moggy was too scared to move and had to be rescued from 25-ft high electricity lines.

His head was just inches from a live wire – which would have electrocuted him instantly – as he stood on an earth wire.

Passer-by Terry Davies raised the alarm after spotting Freddy on Coltsfoot Close in Amesbury, Wiltshire.

Engineers from Southern Electric, aided by firefighters and RSPCA officers, later rescued the tabby and white cat.

Freddy, whose only injury was to his pride, then ran home with a note from the RSPCA attached to his collar.

It read: “Your cat’s had an adventure. Can you please contact us to let us know he got home safely?”

Freddy’s owner Emma Evans, 33, a carer from Amesbury, got in touch immediately.

She said: “It’s not unusual for Freddy to wander off for the night so I hadn’t been too concerned about him.

“When I saw the pictures of Freddy hanging on to the wires I couldn’t believe it.

“I’d like to think he’d learned his lesson but I think he’ll be up to mischief again soon”.
