Investigators in the United States are trying to discover where a huge chunk of ice which smashed through a pensioner’s roof came from.
Several pieces fell on the town of Dubuque in Iowa, with one reportedly weighing over 22kg.
Jan Kenkel was standing in her kitchen when a chunk crashed through her roof.
She said: “It sounded like a bomb. I jumped about a foot.”
The 78-year-old discovered a messy pile of insulation, bits of ceiling, splintered wood – and the ice.

Neighbours Karle and Mary Beth Wigginton said they heard a loud “whoosh” coming through the trees before discovering several large chunks of ice in front of their home.
Elizabeth Cory, a spokeswoman for the Federal Aviation Administration, said investigators would to try to determine the source of the ice.
She said: “It is very uncommon for something like this to come from an aircraft.
“That is really unusual if it is pure white ice, especially at this time of year.”
