BMThe husband of US actress Brittany Murphy has told a US TV show his wife was suffering from laryngitis in the days before she died.

An autopsy has been carried out but the cause of death will not be known until the results of toxicology and tissue tests come out in four to six weeks.

“My world was destroyed yesterday,” Simon Monjack told Access Hollywood. He also said Murphy had “been tired”.

Murphy collapsed at home in Los Angeles and died in hospital on Sunday.

James Bain spent 35 years in jail after being found guilty of kidnapping and raping a nine-year-old boy in 1974.

On his release from prison in Florida on Thursday, he told the BBC he was not angry and his faith had helped him.

The French fashion house will shed 100 staff, leaving just 11 employees to manage its accessories and perfumes.

The firm entered administration in June, after being hit by falling sales, and has failed to find a buyer.

Oscars 2010: expect change!

AlecWith three months to go before the Academy Awards are held in Los Angeles, early indications suggest it will be one of the most open races in years.

Indeed, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences seems to have anticipated this by opening the best picture category up to 10 movies, as opposed to the usual five.

That is not the only change either. In order not to coincide with the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, the 2010 Oscars will take place a fortnight later than this year’s were.

It will also boast not one but two hosts, the comedian Steve Martin sharing the presenting duties with actor Alec Baldwin.

A1An ex-model who was obsessed with maintaining her youthful looks has died following surgery to make her buttocks firmer.

Former Miss Argentina Solange Magnano, 38, was rushed to hospital with severe breathing problems after the cosmetic operation.

The mother of eight-year-old twins died on Sunday from a blocked lung artery after spending three days in a critical condition in intensive care.

Her close friend and fashion designer Roberto Piazza said the brunette had become obsessed with her looks as her successful modelling career approached its end.

Malissa Jones was just 17 years old and weighed in at 34 stone when she became the youngest Briton to have a gastric bypass.

Two years on and Malissa now claims the weight loss has left her miserable and she now wishes she never had the £10,000 NHS operation.

‘I know it sounds ungrateful, but I preferred my body when I was fat,’ the 19-year-old said.
